Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay: Power Behind the Throne Companion Cover
Its been a real pleasure working on Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay over the last 10 months or so for cubicle 7, especially when I get the chance to do a cover, like this one for the companion book to the 'Power behind the Throne', third book in the Enemy within campaign.
Of course one of the great things about working in a company is you arent ever alone doing a piece of art, and this one was no exception, the art direction of Andy Law, my producer, has been fundamental in making this image work. The to and fro of ideas and constructive criticism has only improved my work exponentially, so hats off to him! More about the upcoming up book here:

Minas Tirith
One of the recent pieces I have done for the company I work( Cubicle 7) and our upcoming 'The One Ring' core book based in Tolkiens Middle earth. Art direction from Emmet Byrne, whose encouragement, sharp artistic eye and design philosophy has really pushed the art in directions which it would have never gone without him. Also Francesco Nepitello the lead writer, has been a big help throughout this image, and many others I am currently doing for The On Ring, the ideas and absolute bottomless well of information he is has been pivotal to producing the quality work we have been doing, he would make Tolkien proud! Various photos of myself (in blue) getting some handson experience with Geophysics |
Yesterday I helped out the remote sensing survey of Round Hill outside Lismore, a very impressive Motte & Bailey (which may even be a late medieval conversion of a pre-historic hillfort!). Had fun getting some handson learning of some of the techniques of geophysics.
Check out the great Adopt a Monument Ireland scheme, they are doing some amazing work around the country trying to reconnect communities with their local heritage and take responsibility of them. Give them a like and your support!

Illustrating the Past Book
My NRA archaeological illustration work, alongside the work of a few other archaeological reconstruction artists, are being published together in a new book by the TII (the new NRA) which will be launched next Thursday, the 27th of August in Dublin (ill be there!). The information on the launch was released by the TII as follows:
"The annual Dublin seminar, which this year will have papers on “The Archaeology of Roads and Light Rail” and will provide an opportunity to hear about some of the remarkable archaeological and historical discoveries from the Luas Lines and the current Cross City project. This will commence at 15.45 in the Wood Quay Venue on Thursday 27th August. The afternoon papers will be followed at 18.00 that evening by an address by the renowned archaeologist Julian Richards, who many will know from his work at Stonehenge and his television series “Stories from the Dark Earth: Meet the Ancestors Revisited” and “Meet the Ancestors” on the occasion of the launch of the first TII Heritage book “Illustrating the Past: archaeological discoveries from Irish road schemes”.""
Hopefully see some of ye there!

Drawing Heirlooms Workshop
I have an upcoming workshop in New Ross Library in Co. Wexford on the 23rd of June. Bring along your own Heirloom to learn how to draw it but at the same time share the memories and stories that are carried with this object with others (if you feel like doing so). Having a connection with an object you are drawing gives a drawing much more meaning and depth, so while you will learn how to draw it, at the same time you will see it and connect with it in new ways.
If you're in the area hopefully ill see you there, more about how to book and the event itself in the library's event page:
