Bronze Axe Sketches

Bronze Hafted Axe

Amber Necklace

Two more sketches from the Cork Museum in Fitzgeralds Park, Cork city. Today I just painted and drew axes, both are from the bronze age, but hafted in different ways. The upper painted one was an earlier form of hafting from around the early Bronze Age(2,500-1,500 BC) and the bottom pencil sketch is a socketed axe from the later Bronze Age(1500- 600 BC). The bottom is a  Bronze Age Amber necklace, Amber isnt native to here so it was imported from Scandinavia, showing early trade links between here and there.
