Youghal Barber Shop

A few months ago I was commissioned to paint No.92 in Youghal town centre in Cork. It belonged to the commissioners family long ago and was a barber shop then as it is still to this day. Painting was done on A5 HP paper, using Watercolour Pans & Gouache

That's really nice man, I love the effect you got with the net curtain in the window

thanks man! That was the part I was shitting my pants with the most, transparency/translucency are scary things in trad

Well you did it well, the gold writing on the glass as well as the shadow and depth behind the net curtain is fantastic. I assume you did the gold with gouache?

Ya I used gouache quite a bit, I used it to make the light/highlight areas in the forms in the red shopfront too, among other parts
